Happy Times NVQ Training
NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification. They are qualifications which relate directly to a person's ability to work to a specified standard in the setting. The involve assessment in the workplace of an individual’s competency.

National Vocational Qualifications in Early Years Care and Education are nationally recognised. They aim to show an individual's practical skills and knowledge of Early Years Care and Education. They are based on national standards set by the childcare industry and awarding bodies.

What Will I Learn And Study?
This will depend on whether you study Level 2 or Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education.

There Are The Mandatory Units You Will Study For Level 2

  • Implement Planned Activities for Sensory and Intellectual Development
  • Implement Planned Activities for the Development of Language and Communication Skills
  • Maintain an Attractive, Stimulating and Reassuring Environment for Children
  • Maintain the Safety and Security of the Children
  • Contribute to the Achievement of Organisational Requirements
  • Relate to Parents
  • Feed Babies
  • Provide for Babies’ Physical Development Needs

These Are The Mandatory Units You Will Study For Level 3

  • Provide for Children's Needs
  • Promote the Physical Development of Children
  • Promote Children's Social and Emotional Development
  • Provide a Framework for the Management of Behaviour
  • Promote Children's Sensory and Intellectual Development
  • Promote Children's Language and Communication Development
  • Contribute to the Protection of Children from Abuse
  • Observe and Assess the Development and Behaviour of Children
  • Plan and Equip Environments for Children
  • Care for and Promote the Development of Babies
  • Plan, Implement and Evaluate Routines for Children
  • Create Effective Working Relationships

How Will The Training Process Work?

  1. You will receive a guidance interview to ascertain your suitability for the NVQ training, and to ensure you understand the assessment procedures.

  2. You will then attend an induction session where you will be issued with your Candidate Guide and all necessary information including allocation of an assessor and timetable for delivery of the underpinning knowledge.

  3. You will attend regular training sessions, portfolio building workshops and receive tutorial support.

  4. You will also be assessed in the workplace.

  5. This will then lead to you achieving your qualification.


Assessment

You will be allocated an assessor who will assess you in the workplace against set criteria relating to a variety of areas. You then build up a portfolio of evidence of your abilities showing your understanding of the underpinning knowledge. This knowledge supports your practical work in the setting.
